Many of our employees have worked with us since our company began, which is over 20 years ago. We currently employ in excess of 150 operatives and management.

We are so proud of our team and strive to develop all members of staff to be able to grow and achieve their career goals with us, whether just joining or an existing team member.

To be the best company we can be for our teams, our customers and the communities in which we work, we need happy employees who care about their work and know they are cared for too.

Health, Safety and Wellbeing

We expect all our employees to always put safety first and to raise any safety concerns immediately. We are committed to doing everything we can to ensure the safety of our workforce and expect no less of all our employees. Whilst at work, everyone is responsible for taking reasonable care of their own and colleagues health, safety and wellbeing.

Diversity

We believe our strength comes from combining what we have in common with what makes each us different. We know having diverse talent and an inclusive environment helps us be the best company we can be. We want all employees to grow with us and achieve their career goals, whilst feeling valued and empowered to contribute to our success.

Our Equality and Inclusion Policy outlines our commitment to giving equal access to recruitment and selection, promotion and career development, training, reward and benefits regardless of your gender, sexuality, ethnicity, disability, age, religion or belief, parenting, caring or marital status. We recognise the potential that every individual brings to UDP and commit to treating everyone fairly and respectfully. We also ask that all colleagues treat others how they themselves would like to be treated and make a personal commitment to adhere to the principles of our Equality and Inclusion Policy.

Our People Policies

Our people are important. We have lots of policies to support employees at UDP. Below are a few key policies. The full suite is available on request.

Mandatory Training

Many of the roles at UDP require certain levels of safety and operational training. We manage this with all employees through our structured training framework and training matrix as set out in our Training and Development Policy.

Continued Professional Development

We always encourage and support employees to learn from professional bodies, external events, seminars and industry bodies. We will accommodate attendance at such events where it is clear it will add value to individual’s careers. As apart of our learning environment we encourage sharing this knowledge to all appropriate members of the team. More information is included within the Training and Development Policy.

Coaching

Again, through our learning environment line managers have regular chats with their team to discuss your career goals and aspirations. Together this ensures UDP people get the most out of the opportunities we have available, whether it be through further training, mentoring or learning new skills.

Balancing Work and Home Life

We want to give all employees greater choice and flexibility about working life whenever we can. But we do need to be able to balance this with making sure we give our customers the best service and being able to run all areas of our business successfully. Our Flexible Working Policy is where the full range of options are identified. These include part-time working, job sharing and staggered hours.

Modern Slavery Act

UDP is committed to preventing slavery and human trafficking throughout our operations and those associated with our business. This is not a standalone issue, but one which forms part of our approach to ensuring we treat people with dignity and respect, that we source goods and services responsibly, that we promote and strive for transparency and that we conduct our business with the highest regard to ethical and environmental standards. We are committed to ensuring that all of our employees and third parties performing services for or on our behalf and/or joint venture parties abide by the highest professional and ethical standards.
