Corporate Social Responsibility

All UDP activities have social as well as environmental and economic impacts. We want people to want to work with us because we believe that we have a purpose beyond profit – and to leave a positive social legacy through our work and add value to our customers, our shareholders, our people and our communities. We use our skills, experience and strength to give something back and improve local communities and, more widely, to society. We focus our social value and community investment activity mainly in Youth unemployment and those in Social Exclusion.

We are committed to inspire people, particularly those who are socially-excluded, by providing opportunities for them to improve their lives that adds social value to the communities in which we work and are aligned to local needs.

We provide our people, whatever their background or experience, the opportunity to grow skills within the company and encourage continuous professional development. This has been recognised formally, as we are proud winners of the Manchester Evening News business of the year 2018.

Here at Utilities Design & Planning Limited we are committed to the expansion of an already successful  company policy of social values by  offering further full-time employment opportunities to ex-offenders. 2019 will see an additional four full time positions being made available through our working partnership with Labour Ready Recruitment Ltd www.labour-ready.co.uk.

Our full-time apprenticeship scheme in partnership with Salford City College www.salfordcc.ac.uk will provide an additional four apprenticeship places for 2019 to enhance the four apprentices already in training with the college.

“Our connections to local communities and helping others to succeed is core to our values, an important part of this is treating people fairly within a balanced business culture so that all have equal access to opportunities to help our people thrive at UDP”

Mike Flynn, Managing Director of UDP
